The Pacific Brand

Tasked with promoting stability and economic sustainability within the region, the Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF) is implementing a programme called “The Pacific Brand”. The purpose of this programme is to assist pacific exporters to respond to the current market constraints with exporting into New Zealand. The Pacific Brand programme will identify high quality Pacific Products that will generate consumer awareness and demand throughout New Zealand.

Research undertaken by PCF has shown that there is an opportunity for Pacific products to gain a greater recognition in the New Zealand market but currently purchasing is limited due to a lack of perceived product value by consumers. The Pacific Brand concept will look to increase the market share of Pacific products (and in turn create greater trade opportunities for the region) by creating a brand that will influence consumers in buying products with a Pacific origin. New Zealand consumers have also indicated that they would be more willing to purchase Pacific products if products originated from the pacific and if the products are believed to be high quality and ‘premium’.

The first stage of this project is finding Pacific businesses whose products will best convey these values in the market place – thus establishing the Pacific brand as a mark of quality.

As such, the PCF management team would like to meet with Pacific enterprises who have been exporting for at least two years; or have an export ready product. A select group meeting will be held on Monday 15th of March, 2pm at the New Hope Hall (next to CITV). PCF member, Chris Cocker will deliver a presentation on the Pacific Brand Programme.
