What are we?The Business Trade & Investment Board (BTIB) is a Government funded / private sector operated Board established to provide services to stimulate private sector growth. The BTIB was established under the Development Investment Act 1995-96 and the Office secretariat was formalised in October 1997. Where are we?The Business Trade & Investment Board office is located opposite the Punanga Nui Markets, Ruatonga, Avarua.
What services do we offer?• Foreign Enterprise Registration – One Stop Shop for Foreign Business approvals • Concessions from Customs Import Levy – concessions for assets, equipment and materials required for the establishment of a new enterprise; and or expansion of an existing enterprise
• Approval to Lease Land – Subject to meeting BTIB criteria the Foreign enterprise may be approved to lease land in the Cook Islands for a maximum of 60 years
• Product and Trade Development – working with local groups of entrepreneurs to develop exportable goods
• Trade Promotion – finding buyers / markets for locally produced exportable goods
• Investment Facilitation – linking international investors with the right contacts in the Cook Islands
• Investment Promotion – Access investors around the globe to invest in tourism, agriculture, marine resources, and other productive sectors
• Network Development – networking in the global arena to develop the presence of the Cook Islands as an investment center in the Asia-Pacific region
• Catalyst to national sector development – provide energy and resources to local sectors to ‘kick-start’ operations.
• Develop a strong Marketing program listing all opportunities – using the Internet, Investment Guide, Newsletters, Trade Missions, Trade Shows
• Technical & Vocational Training – Provide training in areas most required with in-house expertise • Business Plan Development – develop your idea into a plan of attack for evaluation
